Erika Bright is a nationally recognized insurance coverage lawyer who has spent more than 25 years helping corporate policyholders secure coverage, manage risk and resolve high-stakes disputes. Best Lawyers® has twice named her Dallas/Fort Worth “Lawyer of the Year”— for Litigation–Insurance in 2027 and Insurance Law in 2022— and has recognized her in The Best Lawyers in America® every year since 2013. Erika secured the nation’s largest insurance coverage verdict of 2022 for her policyholder client, as reported by National Law Journal®. She also has been ranked by Chambers USA for Insurance in Texas since 2020. Her other distinctions include recognition by D Magazine among the Best Lawyers in Dallas for Insurance Law and selection to Texas Super Lawyers® for Insurance Coverage every year from 2012 through 2027, and her election as a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel.
Erika represents clients in complex insurance coverage, indemnity, business and construction disputes across major industries. Known for combining extensive courtroom experience with practical business judgment, she helps clients pursue insurance recovery when they need it most. She also advises companies on a broad range of insurance-related matters, including evaluating coverage, minimizing risk, negotiating policy terms and drafting indemnity agreements.
Her litigation experience encompasses virtually every major form of commercial coverage, including Directors and Officers (D&O), Errors and Omissions (E&O), Fiduciary Liability, Commercial General Liability (CGL), Property, Builder’s Risk, Employer’s Liability, Environmental and Energy policies.
In addition to her client work, Erika is a respected author and frequent speaker on insurance law. She has served as a faculty member and lecturer for the State Bar of Texas Advanced Insurance Law Course and The University of Texas School of Law’s Annual Insurance Law Institute. She has contributed to leading legal publications, including the American Bar Association’s The Handbook on Additional Insureds and Law360.
Before joining Wick Phillips, Erika was a partner in the insurance coverage and business litigation practice groups at Haynes and Boone, LLP.
