Dallas, Texas, September 1, 2023 – Wick Phillips’ Insurance Coverage team, led by partners Erika Bright and Noah Nadler, obtained the Country’s largest insurance verdict in 2022, according to the National Law Journal’s recent release of the Top 100 Verdicts of 2022. The #1 insurance ranking results from a $44M+ verdict for firm client Weber Metals, Inc., a leading manufacturer of parts for the aerospace industry.

The case arose out of Weber Metals’ insurance claim being denied in 2020 after a catastrophic failure of its 33,000-ton forging press in September 2018. Weber Metals insurer, ACE American Insurance Company, denied the claim in its entirety.

In July 2022, after a week-long trial, a California federal court jury issued a verdict for the full amount of damages sought by Weber Metals under the insurance policy.

Erika is recognized as a leading authority on insurance coverage and litigation and has devoted her practice to protecting clients and finding insurance recovery in their time of need. Erika represents corporate policyholders in disputes with insurance carriers and advises clients on all insurance-related topics, including how to minimize risk, draft indemnity agreements and obtain optimum insurance coverage.

Noah is a seasoned litigator who represents clients in a wide array of complex litigation and arbitration—with a primary focus on construction litigation, representing corporate policyholders in disputes with their insurers, commercial real estate disputes, and oil and gas litigation.

According to the National Law Journal, the Top 100 verdicts are ranked by gross award calculated by the jury. To view the full list, please click here.
