WHAT IS EDGAR NEXT

The SEC’s new EDGAR next system officially goes into effect on September 15, 2025. From this point forward, filers will be unable to make submissions unless they enroll in EDGAR Next. The new EDGAR system includes important modernization of the SEC’s filing platform, such as improved security, transparency, and account management.

KEY DEADLINES

  • September 15, 2025 – Filers must enroll in EDGAR Next to submit filings.
  • December 19, 2025 – Filers not enrolled in EDGAR will lose access and must reapply for credentials using Form ID. This is the final deadline to complete the transition.

WHY IT MATTERS

EDGAR is a critically important system for electronically filing disclosures and other documents with the SEC. Being locked out of EDGAR can lead to:

  • Missed SEC filing obligations
  • Administrative burdens of reapplying for access
  • Compliance risks and potential regulatory consequences

WHAT FILERS SHOULD DO NOW

  • Plan ahead for the December 19th deadline, which is the last opportunity to secure access before reapplication is required.
  • Gather required documentation and complete enrollment immediately to restore filing access.
  • Confirm account administrators are set up and authorized to manage the process.
