Dallas, Texas, January 30, 2026 – It is with great sadness that Wick Phillips announces the passing of labor & employment litigation partner Marcia Nelson Jackson. Marcia was a brilliant attorney who took on challenges with positivity and determination. She is survived by her husband Ron, four children, Samuel, Kendra, William, and Alexa, and many other extended family members, friends, and colleagues.
Marcia Nelson Jackson was born in California to Randy Eileen Eatough and Richard Allen Nelson. She interned at the National Conference of State Legislatures in Washington, D.C. in the late 1980s, later for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and then at the Office of President Ronal Reagan in 1990. She earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA in 1990 and her law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1994, where she served on the Board of Editors for the Vanderbilt Journal of Transactional Law. She married the love of her life, Ronald Jay Jackson, and moved to Texas after living in California for three years.
Marcia practiced law for over 30 years. She was admitted to practice law in both Texas and California, and was registered to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth, Ninth, and Tenth Circuits, the United States District Court for the Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of Texas, and the United States District Court for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California.
Marcia was an early and important member of the firm family, having joined Wick Phillips in 2009 when the firm had only been in existence for 5 years. She made innumerable contributions during her long tenure and left a legacy of steadfast client advocacy, hard work, and practicing law with heart – and purpose.
Marcia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active in her church community. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed creating and sharing thoughtful gifts.
