D.C. Sauter is a partner in the real estate section of Wick Phillips. He represents borrowers, lenders, developers, landlords, and tenants in all aspects of commercial real estate, including acquisitions, dispositions, entitlements, construction, financing, and leasing of multi-family, restaurants, hotels, raw land, shopping centers, and stand-alone retail. D.C.’s multifamily practice has included over $1.5 billion in acquisitions over the past two years alone. He has also handled a large volume of agency financing transactions with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, preferred equity and mezzanine financing transactions, securitized financing products, life company financing and construction financing.
In addition to transactional matters, D.C. has significant experience in complex commercial disputes involving real estate and construction. He has handled condemnations, foreclosures and workouts, errors and omissions in design and contract administration, construction defect claims and related CGL coverage issues, and title insurance claims. D.C. has handled matters in bankruptcy, state, and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. His litigation experience provides him with a unique perspective in handling transactional matters.
