Jerry C. Harris, Jr. practices broad and complex intellectual property law with a primary focus on patent law. His extensive experience representing both patentees and alleged infringers gives him a unique perspective regarding IP litigation. Bolstering his legal experience are many years assisting boards of directors, special committees, and shareholders in a wide variety of legal matters. As a registered contract advisor to the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), Jerry developed key negotiation and counseling strategies that benefit all of his clients. His straightforward yet persuasive communication style is key to his successful representation of clients.

Jerry’s practice covers all aspects of IP and patent law including invalidity opinions, non-infringement opinions, freedom to operate opinions, domestic and foreign patent preparation and prosecution, and client counseling related to patent issues. Past cases include polymer compositions, catalysts, and processing; pharmaceutical compositions and methods of treatment; petroleum exploration and refining; computer software, frameworks, and methods; mechanical devices, including oilfield tools, electromechanical devices, and medical devices; and business methods.

Jerry is actively involved in the legal community on a local and national level. He is a member of both the Texas and Delaware State Bars. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the United States District Court for District of Delaware, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and he is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Prior to joining Wick Phillips, Jerry was a Shareholder in the IP boutique firm of Conley Rose in Dallas and prior to that served as a litigator for Morris, Nichols, Arsht, and Tunnell, LLP, in Wilmington, Delaware.
